Buying the Right Women’s Hiking Boots

If you are a woman and love hiking, it would only make sense to start shopping for a pair of good quality women’s hiking boots. Finding the right pair of shoes is essential if you want to be able to enjoy your hike despite being on the trail for hours at a time. Fortunately, it’s not that hard to find excellent women’s hiking boots these days because most footwear companies now manufacture entire lines of hiking boots specifically for women. Years ago, most hiking boots were designed for men’s feet. Women had a hard time finding smaller sizes, or they would just make do with ordinary sneakers which are not always durable enough for long hikes.

There are many factors to be considered when looking for the right pair of women’s hiking boots. In addition to comfort, fit and style, you should also be familiar with the different features that you might need in your hiking footwear. For instance, some shoes come with waterproofing which is great for wet trails, or removable insoles for a better and more comfortable fit.

If you have no idea yet as to what kind of surface or weather you will be hiking on, it would be best to invest in a standard pair of women’s hiking boots. These can be found in most sports shops across the country. Many types of hiking boots can be purchased for less than $100 but there are also special shoes that cost upwards of $300.

Men’s and women’s hiking boots, while serving the same function, differ quite a lot in terms of style. For one thing, women’s boots are more lightweight and the soles are more arched. Of course, there are also varieties of hiking boots for women that are more heavily-built and somewhat more durable for longer hikes. However, you do have to realize that the weight can eventually its toll on you so that is really something you should consider.

A very important thing to keep in mind when buying new hiking boots is to make sure that you break it in before using it for the actual hike. If you wait until the day of the hike before putting on your new shoes, you will likely end up with major blisters at the end of the day, which can certainly prevent you from enjoying an otherwise wonderful day outdoors. Breaking in your new hiking boots can be done simply by wearing it a few minutes each day or using it when walking around the neighborhood. You may feel silly doing so but it will all be worth it eventually.
