When you buy camping supplies you should be careful how you obtain your gear to ensure that you get the best prices on your gear. Sometimes, we think that if we buy a tent or other camping supplies at a garage sale, we are getting a good deal and for the occasional back yard camper, that’s fine. Just be careful if you buy camping gear at places such as garage or estate sales, out of the paper or Craig’s list, or auction sites. You can pick up a bargain, but you can also get ripped off.
Now, this sounds extreme, but you should know that you could be setting yourself up to get some defective gear and when you’re in the wilderness and your gear isn’t up to par, it could be a serious situation. Plus, if you buy camping supplies from some of these places, you don’t have any recourse should something go wrong, so it’s best to keep away from these places and buy your gear the right way.

Okay, so now you might be wondering where you should go to buy camping supplies. This can often be frustrating, as it can feel as if you’re at the mercy of the outdoors stores’ when you shop with them, however, you should know that there are benefits to knowing that you have brand new camping supplies which have never been used.
You should also feel good knowing that if your new tent rips or your compass or GPS fails to work properly, you can take it back to where you purchased it for a replacement and often a refund if you don’t want to replace the piece of equipment. When you buy camping supplies from a store, you can feel confident knowing that you are going to get quality camping gear that you can return if something goes wrong with it.

When you’re looking to buy camping supplies, but don’t want the high prices, you can consider shopping online, as there is a ton of competition among online retailers, which will drive down costs and ensure you get the best deal possible, but you can often get specialty gear online, which you might not be able to find at your local outdoors store. Always remember, when you buy camping supplies, it’s important to make sure that you can return the item if it is defective or something happens to it and that you’re choosing new gear that hasn’t been used.
